Annual Report 2022/2023 of the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg published
There is no change without visions, but they alone do not lead to the goal, says University President Hartmut Ihne. "Today, a qualitative view of the future is no longer futuristic wishful thinking, but closely linked to methods and concrete facts from science." An important topic in the current university development plan, he says, alongside digitalisation, is sustainability. "We take the challenges seriously. Universities have the task of actively accompanying society and its stakeholders scientifically on the path to a sustainable and liveable future," Ihne emphasises.
Independent right to award doctorates
Much has happened in other areas as well. The universities of applied sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia, and thus the H-BRS, have been granted independent doctoral rights through the NRW Doctoral College - a milestone. In addition, the H-BRS has been working flat out to rebuild the Rheinbach campus, which was severely damaged in the flood disaster in July 2021. Research and teaching are already underway again in some of the buildings. By the start of the 2024/2025 winter semester, all buildings on campus should be usable again.
Interview with Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, the future German Ambassador to Moscow
On 90 pages, the Annual Report 2022/2023 offers an overview of the most important topics in the areas of research, teaching, studies and cooperation. It also includes an interview with Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, the future German ambassador to Moscow, and university president Hartmut Ihne on the role of science diplomacy. The annual report is available on the H-BRS website.
