From smoothies to AI in science
"We always start with a story," says Helbig, "a story about our students and how they are shaping society. So they started with a smoothie manufacturer that was once founded by H-BRS students and ended up with the challenges and opportunities that AI holds for science.
The two know each other from various scientific committees and institutions and meet regularly – if only to absorb the current perspective on society and science of their esteemed counterpart. They engaged in a lively conversation about science communication, the digitalisation and internationalisation of universities – Helbig has also been Vice President of the German Academic Exchange Service since 2020 – and ideas for cooperation between the two institutions.
