Role Models under the Christmas Tree

They come from India, Syria and Iran, from Brasil, Nigeria, Russia and other countries. They came to Germany to go to university at H-BRS. Meanwhile, the alumni guests of the role model event on 12 December have established themselves in the German labour market as project managers, research engineers, data scientists, consultants, scientists and had a lot to say: about studying in a foreign country, about job hunting and application procedures, about corporate cultures, further training, the importance of the German language in their working lives.

More than 40 current international students who are yet to enter the German labour market listened intently to the alumni's reports on their experiences. The event was organised like a World Café with fixed stations so that all students could get to know all the alumni - and enjoyed the snacks in the style of a German Abendbrot. Many students had already submitted their questions in advance and made extensive use of the opportunity to exchange ideas. The discussions were so intense that many guests remained in conversation even after the official end of the event.

All participants enjoyed the warm pre-christmas atmosphere.

The event had been jointly organised by the Alumni office and the International Office. It was part of the "Bridge to Success" initiative at H-BRS, funded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).
