Delegation visits partner university in Jordan
The GJU was founded in 2004 on the model of German Universities of Applied Sciences, which is reflected, among other things, in the hands-on and application-oriented focus of teaching and research. The students - currently there are about 4500 - learn German starting in the first semester. A one-year study visit to Germany is compulsory. The GJU has maintained good relations with the H-BRS since its founding years, for example with regard to student exchanges. One focus is the Department of Computer Science.
Whether the joint activities will be expanded is now to be examined. "We want to explore to what extent we can expand the existing cooperations into a strategic partnership," says Professor Jürgen Bode, Vice President for Internationalisation and Diversity at the H-BRS. "The GJU is an important gateway between the Arab world and German Universities of Applied Sciences."
In preparation for the visit of the H-BRS delegation, Professor Reiner Finkeldey, Vice President for International Affairs at the GJU, was recently a guest at the H-BRS. In Sankt Augustin, he exchanged views with the President's Office and got an idea of various projects, including those in the Department of Computer Science and the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE).
