Marcus Vetter: Artificial intelligence in the engineering sciences
Date
Thursday, 13 June 2024
Time
18:15 - 19:45
Location
Hörsaal 7, Campus Sankt Augustin
On June 13, Prof. Dr. Marcus Vetter, Head of the AI Engineering course at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, will be a guest at the TUE lecture series at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg.
The title of the lecture is "The role of artificial intelligence in engineering: opportunities, challenges and ethical perspectives". In it, he discusses the influence of AI in the traditional fields of engineering and looks at current developments and the significance of AI for the future.
It is impossible to imagine engineering without AI. AI is used as a modern tool to support traditional engineering methods. It is used in the development and optimization of intelligent systems and processes, for example in robotics and assistance systems. It also plays a role in the development, marketing and sales of AI-supported products.
Prof. Dr. Marcus Vetter is the founder and director of the Institute for Embedded Systems, Control and Medical Technology, which was established in 2007, and heads the Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (A²IR). Until 2014, he was Head of the Medical Technology course at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences. His areas of expertise include embedded systems/real-time systems, deep learning and software development methods in medical technology
In the summer semester 2024, artificial intelligence will be the focus of the lecture series on technology and environmental ethics at H-BRS. AI is now part of our lives, is changing our work and is developing rapidly. Nine experts will give lectures on AI in various scientific disciplines and professions and then discuss opportunities, risks and ethical issues with students and the audience.
