Andrea Hansen: AI in journalistic practice

Andrea Hansen

Date

Thursday, 02 May 2024

Time

18:15 - 19:45

Location

Hörsaal 7, Campus Sankt Augustin

In the third lecture of the lecture series on technology and environmental ethics, freelance journalist Andrea Hansen will talk about the use of AI in everyday journalism. As the field of work of the "fourth estate" is very dynamic, it will be interesting to see what Hansen, who is also chairwoman of the German Journalists' Association in Münster, has to say at the beginning of May.

On May 2, Andrea Hansen, honorary chairwoman of the German Journalists' Association NRW in Münster and freelance journalist, will be a guest at the TUE lecture series at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg.

The title of her presentation is "AI in journalistic practice". The field is so dynamic that it is hard to say what will be said about it at the beginning of May. Except perhaps that AI offers many possibilities and that it always depends on the user how they use it. Just to reduce costs? Creatively for quality assurance and improvement? Or as a sparring partner for brainstorming?

Andrea Hansen has been working as a freelance journalist for various public broadcasters since 1998 and is also active as a presenter, media trainer and lecturer. And as of today (February 29), she is also a newly qualified AI manager (IHK) and application consultant.

In the summer semester 2024, artificial intelligence will be the focus of the lecture series on technology and environmental ethics at H-BRS. AI is now part of our lives, is changing our work and is developing rapidly. Nine experts will give lectures on AI in various scientific disciplines and professions and then discuss opportunities, risks and ethical issues with students and the audience.
