Ghana Visits Sankt Augustin:

Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg strengthens international collaboration and fosters digitalization initiatives

On November 29, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences welcomed a high-level delegation with representatives from the top universities in Ghana. The visit was organized by Mr. Böhm and Ms. Brandt from the Department of International Affairs of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) as part of the "Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies" (DIES) program. The six Vice-Chancellors represented renowned Ghanaian universities, including the University of Development Studies, University of Ghana, University of Health and Allied Sciences, University of Cape Coast (UCC), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), and Central University Ghana.

H-BRS, with its extensive experience in collaboration with Ghanaian universities, proudly presented successful projects. The International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE) demonstrated initiatives such as "Energy Self-sufficiency for Health Facilities in Ghana" (EnerSHelf), "One Health," and "INTERFACES." The Department of Management Sciences presented projects like "Codeshare Summer School," "BET Ghana," and "ART4Dev." Additionally, Ms. Brautlacht and Ms. Sancillo, from the area of Digital Internationalisation, introduced projects such as "Becoming an International Negotiator" (BAIN), "Building Bridges Across Continents" (BBAC), and the comprehensive support of the E-Learning team. This was followed by a lively discussion on future projects.

The Ghanaian delegation expressed particular interest in digitalization projects, both in terms of digital study projects and the professional training of staff in research and teaching. H_BRS presented innovative approaches and discussed potential collaboration opportunities.

DAAD representative Lena Leumer also participated in the discussion, acknowledging the Ghanaian universities' interest in new ideas related to international digitalization, which will be forwarded to DAAD.

The visit of the Ghanaian universities to Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg not only provided an opportunity for the exchange of successful projects and potential collaborations but also strengthened existing partnerships, especially with our long-time partner and friend University of Cape Coast. This gathering signifies a crucial step in promoting internationalization in the academic landscape and lays the foundation for a promising collaboration in the realms of digitalization and research.
