The dean's tie is off! Alaaf!
The fifth season is in full swing, and the tradition of Weiberfastnacht is also celebrated at our university! Dean Prof Dr Sascha Alda lost his tie punctually at 11:11 am. Note for all "Nicht-Rheinländer": If you turn up with a tie, you could quickly be deprived of an important accessory!
In keeping with Rhineland tradition, the women take part in the procession on Weiberfastnacht and symbolically cut off their ties - a sign of the foolish assumption of power.
Changed opening hours
Please note that due to the festivities and the street carnival, opening hours have changed:
Weiberfastnacht
On Thursday, 27 February 2025 (Wieverfastelovend), the working day for university employees will end at 1 pm. From this time onwards, all telephone advisory services, including the General Student Advisory Service, the Student Secretariat and the Language Centre, will also be closed.
The Rheinbach Campus and Sankt Augustin Campus libraries will be open until 10 pm (specialised staff until 1 pm)!
