DAAD prize for Samuel Parra
The prize of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is endowed with 1,000€ and is awarded to students who, in addition to outstanding academic achievements, also demonstrate social or cultural commitment. It is normally awarded at the graduation ceremony in October, but due to the pandemic, the prize was again awarded on a smaller scale this year. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Bode, Vice President for Internationalisation and Diversity at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, presented the certificate together with the Head of the International Office, Dr Wang Yi, H-BRS.
Samuel Parra from Venezuela is a 4th semester student in the "Master Autonomous Systems (MAS)" programme. Parra was nominated by members of the MAS team and says about his time at the H-BRS:
"In the two years as a MAS student, I have achieved many things that I am proud of. I was an assistant for two semesters, published my first scientific article with the title "Specifying QoS Requirements and Capabilities for Component-Based Robot Software" at the scientific workshop RoSE 2021 and started a position as a research assistant here at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. During this time, I also got involved in the MAS foundation course, where I volunteered to lead technical sessions, but also some social events for the new students. I am truly grateful for all the experiences I have had over the past two years, all thanks to the support of my professors, colleagues, friends and family."
The Department of Computer Science is happy to have such a dedicated employee and worthy award winner.
