FAQ for students (IT-Service)
E-mail access is set up for all students at the university when they enrol. After about four days, it will be possible to contact you at an e-mail address structured as follows: forename.surname@smail.departmentabbreviation.h-brs.de (link sends e-mail). You can then retrieve your messages using our web client Owa.
Note for computer science students:
the computer science department has its own webmail server. You will find further information here: http://horde.inf.h-brs.de/
Windows
Once you have successfully logged in on your PC using your current password, press the key combination Ctrl-Alt-Delete. Next, choose the item “Change password”. Here you will be requested to enter your old password then enter a new password twice over.
Owa
Log in to Owa using your e-mail address and password. Click on Options in the top right corner and you will see the option “Change password...”. Here you will be requested to enter your old password then enter a new password twice over. Click on “Save” and use your new password the next time you log in.
Lea
Go to the Leawebsite, and you will see “Forgot your password?” towards the bottom of the page. Click on this and a new page will open. Enter your e-mail address here, and you will be e-mailed a link where you can create a new password.

If you have forgotten your password, you can use the “Account” function in the catalogue to have a temporary password sent to you by e-mail. This password, which is valid for one use only, will enable you to log in to your library account and change your password there.

Your e-mail address is: forename.surname@smail.departmentabbreviation.h-brs.de .
Microsoft’s Office 365 Education package is intended for university students, teachers and other staff. The package includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint software for installation on private devices. You will find a precise explanation and instructions for installation at the following link:
You can use Education Roaming (eduroam) to access the internet.
User name: E-mail account user name and @eduroam.h-brs.de
Password: Same as password to student's university e-mail account
Our example is student “Joe Bloggs” from the Department of Management Sciences. His user name consists of the first letter of his first name, the first five letters of his surname, a department number (1-5) and the letter “s”: jblogg1s@eduroam.h-brs.de
