University and District Library
Online publication for theses
Step by step:
-
Talk to your supervisor about if your work is ready for publication. For publication on the publication server of the H-BRS, your supervisor must agree to the publication and sign the declaration of consent for publication. You can find the form on this page under "Related documents".
-
Prepare your work for publication: If necessary, remove personal data of yourself and others (e.g. address, telephone number, matriculation number) and remove parts or attachments for which you do not have the right to publish (e.g. original sources of cited articles). Save your work as a PDF (preferably PDF/A).
-
Consider using a Creative Commons licence for your publication, more information about CC licences is available the library's websites.
-
Upload your work to the H-BRS publication server and fill out the web form there with the necessary data. If you are not sure what to fill in, please feel free to contact us.
-
Send the signed consent form to the library or hand it in at the library in Rheinbach or Sankt Augustin. As soon as the consent form has arrived at the library, your work will receive a DOI and will be published.
What happens after publication:
- Your work can be found on Google and Bing shortly after it has been published, and also on Google Scholar within three to five days. In addition, information about your publication will be passed on to BASE Bielefeld Academic Search Engine and to the EU's research database OpenAire.
- Within the following 14 days, the PDF document will be delivered to the German National Library. This means that many other libraries will also receive the information about your publication.
