Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg mourns the loss of Professor Ralf Möller
"Ralf Möller had been Professor of Space Microbiology in the Department of Natural Sciences since the beginning of 2020. During this time, he left his mark in both teaching and research," said President Hartmut Ihne and Dean Richard Jäger in the university's obituary. "He offered new courses and supervised many theses. His rather unusual subject aroused curiosity and contributed greatly to the attractiveness of our biology degree programmes. As an internationally recognised scientist, he helped to strengthen the university's links with the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), where he also worked. His research spanned the globe and reached as far as outer space, and he was keen to communicate the importance of microbiology to society.
He was held in high esteem by his colleagues due to his approachability and great collegiality, and he was also very popular with students.
It is with sadness and gratitude that we bid farewell to a deserving colleague. Our thoughts are with his family. Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg will always honour Ralf Möller's memory."
