The „Allgemeine Gleichbehandlungsgesetz“ (General Equal Treatment Law), colloquially also called the Anti-Discrimination Law, is a german federal law that aims to prevent or eliminate discrimination because of race, ethnic origin, gender, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual identity.
This means:
All people should be treated equally. Everyone should have the same rights, know their rights and be better able to defend themselves against discrimination.
As a neutral institution, the central anti-discrimination office first receives your complaint. You have the opportunity here to talk confidentially about what has happened to you or how you feel. You can submit an informal complaint and receive initial information about possible solutions in a timely manner.
The further course of action and the determination of effective measures as well as necessary consequences will be addressed - naturally only with your consent - in the second step. It may then be necessary to involve other bodies.
The central anti-discrimination complaint management is supervised by Marion Biendara (Department of Human Resources and Legal Affairs).
Based on the complaints, improvement measures and, if necessary, consequences will be initiated in order to prevent discrimination and to create a respectful and fair interaction with each other.
