For the IP E-Discovery 2013, around 60 European Computer Science, Information Management and Law students and a number of lecturers met in Laval, France from 25 February - 8 March 2013. Prof. Dr. Sayeed Klewitz-Hommelsen and five students represented Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University. The programme took place in the facilities of the ESIEA academy.

Police officials authorized by the European Commission handed over digital evidence to the students. The participants worked in ten internationally mixed teams, which were made up of IT and non-IT students. To get acquainted with the correct handling of evidence, the participants attended lectures about law, forensic science and computer forensics in the mornings. The teams dealt with smaller tasks alongside, presenting their results at the end of the day.

The two-week investigation was concluded by the teams with a report compiled after forensic criteria. Based on this report the teams demonstrated their findings in a final presentation.

A cultural supporting programme was mostly organized by the students of the host ESIEA. In the first week students and lecturers visited the Town Hall and met the mayor of Laval, in the second week they met the president of the region Pays de la Loire. One of the highlights was a visit to the famous abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy.
