DAAD Award for MAS Student Pathare

This year the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) again awarded the prize for outstanding accomplishments of foreign students at German universities. They are honored for their exceptional academic achievements and exemplary social dedication.

Mandar Satyanath Pathare is already the sixth student of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University to receive the honors. The 28-year old Pathare comes from India, where he successfully completed the studies of electronics and telecommunications at the University of Mumbai. Pathare studies at the department of computer science towards a master's degree in Autonomous Systems. More than once the friendly and helpful student was able to solve challenging interpersonal conflicts. He impresses with interdisciplinary knowledge, a precise work process, self-reliance and distinctive diligence. As part of his project work (Research & Development 2: "Smart phone: A Replacement for NXT sensor") Pathare implemented a smartphone into a Lego-Mindstorms-NXT robot and so equipped it with additional, more accurate and less expensive sensors (including camera and navigation instruments). The excellent work was supervised by Professor Paul G. Plöger. The DAAD award was handed over at the graduation ceremony (German) of the university on the 27th October 2012 by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Bode, commissioner of the Bureau of International Projects, and Roland Weiß, director of the International Office. Prof. Bode praised Pathare's achievements and qualities in a solemn speech. The DAAD prize is endowed with 1.000 euro.
