Poster Award for Yu Zhang
The Seventh International Stem Cell Congress of the NRW Competence Network was held in Cologne on 23rd and 24th April. The conference, which attracted a lot of public attention, was attended by some 700 participants, and 180 posters were exhibited.
Yu Zhang, who is pursuing a PhD programme at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University under the supervision of Prof. Dr Edda Tobiasch, presented a poster, too. Yu Zhang is also a member of the Graduate Institute of the German Aviation Center in Cologne-Porz. The poster is aimed at illustrating the topic “P2 Receptor Signaling Controls Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells Differentiation towards Vascular Cell Lineages”. Yu-Zhang was presented with the audience award at a value of € 1,000. Dr Andreas Pansky, Prof. Dr Margit Schulze and Edda Tobiasch are co-authors of the poster.
A group supervised by Edda Tobiasch has now been invited to accept the 14th Royan International Research Award for some other research work. The prize is tendered globally and will be presented in Teheran in September 2013 - only to the academics attending the event. The topic of the work requested by the Royan Institute is “Purinergic Receptors Influence the Differentiation of Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells”; it has already been published in the Stem Cells and Development Journal. Nina Zippel, who took her PhD in Biology at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University, is also a member of the international team of authors. Zippel now works as a postdoc in Frankfurt.
