BMBF funds university research projects

All of the three research project proposals submitted to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the scheme "Research at Universities of Applied Sciences in Collaboration with Companies (FHprofUnt)" have been selected for funding by expert consultants. Hence, three newly appointed professors can commence preparations for their projects, which are likely to be kicked off in autumn 2014. The projects, which have been awarded funds worth € 270,000 each, will run for three years.

Biologist Professor Dr Richard Jäger from the Department of Natural Sciences is in charge of the project "Forensic Analysis of Singular Genomes Based on WGA (ForWArd)".

The sensor technology project "Sampling Procedures Aimed at Testing Objects for Explosives with the Aid of Detection Dogs (PrObEx)" is headed by Professor Dr Gerhard Holl from the Institute of Detection Technologies (IDT) and the Department of Natural Sciences, Rheinbach.

The project "Resource-Optimised Development of Structural Components Based on the Systematic Integration of Experiments and Multi-Scale Simulation Approaches (ReBauVES)" deals with energy-efficiency. It has been initiated jointly by Professor Dr Dirk Reith from the Institute for Technology, Renewables and Energy-efficient Engineering (TREE) and the Department of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Technical Journalism, Sankt Augustin.
