Tasks and Responsibilities of the Departmental Council
In order to perform its duties the departmental council may assign or appoint committees, commissioners and work groups. It is responsible for all fundamental matters of the department. These include for example the decree of examination regulations, decisions on the structural plan, coordination of research projects and decisions on proposals by the appointment committee.
The meetings of the departmental council are basically open for everyone except for agenda topics on personnel decisions.
Composition of the Departmental Council
The departmental council is represented by members of all four status groups of the university: professors, academic employees, technical and administrative staff and students. The council’s term of office is two years, the student representatives are elected for a period of one year. The chairman is elected from the group of the members of the departmental council.
The departmental council consists of eight representatives from the professor’s group, three representatives of the student’s group, two representatives from the group of the research associates and two of the non-scientific staff as well as the non-voting members Dean and Vice Dean.
