Projektbeschreibung
Providers of electric power from renewable sources e.g. photovoltaics or wind turbines underlie seasonal and weather-related variations. This demands a significant expansion of energy storage capacities. A possible solution is storage in the form of hydrogen, especially in metal hydride tanks.
In this project metal hydride tanks and further necessary components (electrolyzer, fuel cell, battery) are investigated by experimenting and simulating. This is combined with knowledge in the field of grid simulation, which already exists at H-BRS, for a demand-actuated design and operation of decentralized storage units. In particular the focus is on coupling of electric and gas grids in order to grant flexible energy supply. Several model scenarios are considered (see figure), whereat every scenario uses realistic and dynamic data (supply profiles, several consumers, weather-related PV variation).
