‘Roadmap’ - the alumni talk
Road Map - the alumni talk. Livestream with Saskia Peek on 29 November 2024
Saskia Peek was one of the first graduates of the still young Sustainable Social Policy degree programme. She obtained the vocational baccalaureate qualifying her for the programme at a vocational college. The degree programme not only provided her with in-depth specialist knowledge, but also awakened her passion for social policy issues and questions of justice. As a consultant, Saskia Peek has been advising companies on the intersection of politics, diversity and sustainability for one and a half years. In an interview with presenter Pascal Schröder, she talks about her journey. The second studio guest, Professor Michael Sauer, contributes interesting facts about the ‘Sustainable Social Policy’ degree programme as Vice Dean of the faculty.
The chat is open for questions during the programme.
The alumni talks are recorded and can also be viewed later on this page or on the university's YouTube channel.
Christian Dietz was a guest in the first alumni talk on 7 June 2024. The founder and head of a communications agency with 15 employees today graduated in 2006 with a degree in technical journalism.
Technology and communication - the Aschaffenburg native was enthusiastic about both from an early age. As the technical journalism degree programme at H-BRS combines both fields, it was an easy choice. He took the step into self-employment with his fellow student and future wife Magda Dietz early on in his studies. With his agency ‘Neublck’, he supports around 200 companies in their communication tasks from Düren in the Rhineland - brand management and consulting, content and web presence, social media and online marketing are just some of the topics.
At the alumni talk, our graduate talked about his own development and learning curve, what difference his knowledge and understanding of technology makes in his career and what is helpful and important for professional success in a communications job. Head of degree programme Prof. Dr Andreas Schümchen explained what students of technical journalism can expect during their studies today.
The Alumni Talk is a joint project: the entire technical realisation is in the hands of students from the Visual Technical Communication and Technical Journalism degree programmes. Under the direction of their lecturer Sabine Fricke, the studio crew regularly realise their own projects in the university's own television studio.
The Communications and Marketing department (with film editing and the Alumni Office) is responsible for the content of the Alumni Talk programme. The programme is hosted by Pascal Schröder, science editor in the Communications and Marketing department.
