Title of the inaugural lecture "Power Electronics: A Key Technology for the Success of the Energy Transition and for High Security of Supply".
Prof. Dr. Marco Jung (DE)

In the energy supply system, power electronics is used, among other things, for coupling renewable energies, for sector coupling and for connecting storage systems and consumers. Power electronics ensures an increase in efficiency in the industrial, mobility and heating sectors. The presentation highlights the importance and significance of power electronics for the energy transition and our research on this at H-BRS.

Marco Jung completed his vocational training as a communications electronics technician specializing in information technology in 2003. After obtaining his advanced technical college entrance qualification in 2004, he studied automation technology at the Technical University of Central Hesse and subsequently power engineering at the University of Kassel. In 2010, he started his scientific career at Fraunhofer IWES in Kassel (now Fraunhofer IEE). At the same time, he completed his doctorate in engineering at the University of Hannover. He has headed the Power Converters and Electric Drive Systems department since 2017 and has been Professor of Electromobility and Electrical Infrastructure with a focus on power electronics at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences since 2019. In addition, he is currently the Chairman of the IEEE IES/IAS/PELS German Chapter and a member of the International Scientific Committee of the EPE Association, the hosts of EPE ECCE Europe. Currently, Marco Jung is the host of the international power electronics podcast Sound On. Power On. of PCIM Europe as well as the Chairman of PELSS 2022.

Afterwards we invite you to a drink.
