In rendering, we explore the synthesis of realistic or non-photorealistic images representing 3D models or scenes by simulating or approximating the physics of light.
Visualization uses computational, interactive, visual representations of (abstract) data to extend cognition. We conduct basic and applied research projects in all areas of visualization.

Design, implementation and validation of innovative interaction devices and techniques, especially 3D user interfaces and haptic feedback.
For this purpose, e.g. methods and tools for interdisciplinary investigations of safety-related human-machine interaction are used in a usability laboratory.

In the field of modeling, we focus on methods and algorithms that facilitate the creation, representation, analysis and processing of 3D models.
The goal is to integrate mathematical-physical and numerical fundamentals into the application reality in a problem-solving oriented manner.

Computer vision captures the natural world using images, image sequences, and movies and reconstructs its properties such as shape, lighting, and color distributions.
