H-BRS Graduation Ceremony 2019

On Saturday, 26 October 2019, H-BRS bids a festive farewell to the graduates from the last academic year. By completing their studies, the graduates of the university have completed a key stage of their lives in which H-BRS has played an important role. This is something worth celebrating, which is why the University President Prof. Dr Hartmut Ihne invites them to a joint graduation ceremony at Telekom Dome Bonn.

Graduates will receive their invitation (e-mail, post) in summer with a personal registration link. The precondition for the personal invitation is that you have already registered your thesis and that we can expect that you will have successfully completed your studies by the time the graduation ceremony takes place.

If you have already received your personal invitation, please use the registration link contained therein. If you have not yet received a personal invitation, but can assure that you will have successfully completed your studies before the graduation ceremony, please use the general registration link below.

1. Invitation from University President Prof. Dr Hartmut Ihne

President Prof. Dr Hartmut Ihne is looking forward to seeing you at the Telekom Dome on 26 October. Here is an extract from his invitation letter that will reach you after finishing your studies:

“Dear Graduates, finishing your studies marks the end of a period in your life in which we at H-BRS have been able to play an important role. I would like to congratulate you on your successful graduation from our university. We would like to celebrate this achievement properly with you. I would therefore like to invite you and your family, relatives and friends to the Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, 26 October 2019.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree will be conferred upon you and the other graduates of your degree programme during the official degree ceremony. As in past years, we hope that you will follow the solemn academic tradition of wearing gowns. In this ceremonial atmosphere you will once again have the opportunity to meet former fellow students, jointly celebrate your achievements and afterwards enjoy a convivial evening event.”

 

2. Graduation Ceremony Programme

  • 13:30   Ecumenical Service at Matthäi Church | Evangelische Kirchengemeinde Hardtberg, Gutenbergstraße 10, 53123 Bonn
  • From 14:30   Doors open at Telekom Dome
  • 15:30   Ceremony begins

3. Date / Time / Venue 

What are the most important times for the graduation ceremony?
The central celebration starts on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at 3.30 p.m., admission to the Telekom Dome at 2.30 p.m. Before the ceremony, an ecumenical service will take place at 1.30 p.m. in the Matthäikirche.

Where will the following get-together take place?
The evening finale with food stands, drinks and lounge music will take place from around 6 p.m. in the foyer of the Telekom Dome. At 10 p.m. is unfortunately "closing time".

Am I sitting with my family and friends?
No, you sit together with the graduates of your and the other departments on the playing field of the Telekom Dome and in front of the stage. The grandstand seats on the sides are reserved for all guests. Seats will also be available for the eventing finale (although most guests prefer to stand together in the foyer).

Directions and parking:
The address of the Telekom Dome is Basketsring 1, 53123 Bonn, Germany. Please follow our parking recommendations below. Guests who are familiar with the area and use the motorway should take the Bonn Duisdorf exit.

Parking at the Telekom Dome: Please use the free parking spaces in the Hardtberg-Halle (Gaußstraße and Schießstandweg). There are around 400 free parking spaces available. The Telekom Dome is just a few minutes’ walk away. There is limited parking at the Telekom Dome, too.

4. Invitation / Registration / Costs

Who will be invited to the graduation ceremony in 2019?
All students of the past academic year 2018/2019 who have completed their studies by 30 September 2019 are invited. Decisive (for the personal invitation by email) is the date the examination office has noticed your degree. In addition graduates of the years 2016/2017, who missed the ceremony in the year of graduation are cordially invited, too.

Registration
Registration is possible only online and until October 14, midnight.
Please use the checkboxes in the registration form to register for each event with the number of persons required.
Persons who register are asked to confirm by checkbox that they will have successfully completes their studies by the date of the ceremony. If you are not sure if you are eligible, please contact us by email (alumni@h-brs.de).

 

 

You will only incur costs if you buy any of the food or drink available at the venue. Only cash will be accepted on the day of the event.

How can I change my registration?
You will find a direct link to your registration page in the e-mail that you received for confirmation after your online registration. Here you can enter your data again. The e-mail also contains your personal booking number. If you do not use the direct link, please log in at https://events.h-brs.de/ with your personal booking number (hyphons, too) and make your changes.

What does admission cost?
The Graduation Ceremony is free for all graduates and their accompanying persons.
 

How many people can I bring with me?
You can bring up to 5 people with you, so up to 6 people can attend the event, including yourself. If you would like to bring more guests with you, please contact us (email: alumni@h-brs.de)

Can I bring (small) children with me?
Of course, you are welcome to bring children.

Can I bring pets?
No, pets are not allowed in the Telekom Dome.

5. Gowns / Dress code

What do I have to do to get a ceremonial gown according to academic tradition?

You can rent gown, hat and scarf from our external service provider Robe Academicus . Here you can reserve this ceremonial academic attire, which also shapes the image of our graduation ceremony. The earlier you make your booking, the more convenient the time for the personal pick-up on the day of the graduation ceremony. Registration is possible until October 18.

Important: The indicated price consists of rent (25 € with transfer in time, otherwise 40 € cash on site) and deposit (70 € ). The deposit will be refunded after the return of the robe. The robes can be borrowed for the graduation ceremony or bought as souvenirs.

The gowns will be distributed on the day of the event in the Telekom Dome. Once you have registered, you will be assigned a time to pick up your gown.
The issue closes punctually at 15.00 hrs at the latest.

What do I need for admission to the event?
A few days before the event, you will receive an e-mail with the latest information about the event. It will also mention the total number of people you have registered. You will need this e-mail for admission. Please show it printed out or on your smartphone when you enter the Telekom Dome.

To avoid delays in admission, please have the e-mail ready for admission control.

Will there be a photographer at the party?

 

The event will be photographed. Photos and videos will be taken which will be published in various media. These recordings are linked to the images of the people present, the persons depicted are selected at random. The recordings will be shown on our websites, and social media channels and, where applicable, elsewhere in the media. By entering the event venue, the people present consent to this publication free of charge, without explicit consent being required from the people concerned. If you do not wish yourself and/or the people with you to be photographed, please let the event organiser/photographer know.
