Analytical Chemistry and Quality Assurance (MSc)

Admission requirements for the Master's degree programme in Analytical Chemistry and Quality Assurance

A prerequisite for admission to the Master's degree programme in Analytical Chemistry and Quality Assurance is a relevant first professionally qualifying university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) with a focus on Chemistry or Natural Science Forensics with a minimum average grade of 2.5.

This Master's degree programme always starts in the winter semester. You can only apply if you have obtained your Bachelor's or equivalent degree by the previous semester.

 

The following academic requirements are necessary:

a) Degree in the Chemistry specialisation - at least 70 ECTS credits from chemistry modules and at least 20 ECTS credits from modules in the basic subjects of mathematics, physics and computer science and

b) Degree in the specialisation Natural Science Forensics - at least 50 ECTS credits from chemistry modules, at least 20 ECTS credits from modules in the basic subjects of mathematics, physics and computer science and 20 ECTS credits from modules in the field of analytical quality assurance, biology and pharmacology/toxicology.

These ECTS credits do not include final theses, practical phases or comparable academic achievements.


German language skills

German language proficiency at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. If you do not have a German-language secondary school or university degree, the German language skills required for the degree programme must be demonstrated by the telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule or the DSH 2 (German language test for university admission for foreign applicants) or by the TestDaF (Test for German as a Foreign Language) at level TDN 4 in all four examination areas.

 

English language skills

English language skills at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Applicants who have a German university entrance qualification fulfil English language proficiency at level B2. Other applicants who do not have an English-language university entrance qualification (e. g. English-language school leaving certificate) or an English-language degree must provide proof of the English language skills required for the degree programme by taking official tests such as TOEFL iBT, IELTS Academic, Cambridge B2 or others.

 

Application deadline

Applications for this Master's degree programme can be submitted from 15 May to 15 September of each year.

Before you start entering data in the online application form, please check that you have all the documents you need for your application and that you need to upload them with your online application:

   

  • University degree certificate including transcript of records (for foreign certificates with German or English translation);
  • Transcript of records without university degree certificate, if the university degree is not yet available but will be obtained in this summer semester;
  •  the APS certificate if you obtained your university degree in China, Vietnam or India;
  •  Proof of sufficient German language skills (telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule or TestDaF with a result of 4.4.4.4 or DSH 2) if you obtained your university degree abroad.
  • Proof of sufficient English language skills at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
